CMC is also used as a thickener for emulsion paints, acts as a plasticizer and delays setting time as an auxiliary agent for powder paints, leveling compounds and cement mortars, and is also used in the manufacture of wallpaper adhesives. It is used as a binder in the production of coal dust briquettes.
