Sodium gluconate is used in industrial detergents: improves wetting, enhances cleaning properties, speeds up the rinsing process, prevents the formation of lime deposits and tartar. Sodium gluconate is used in metallurgy: in the production of steel and, especially in the production of aluminum, sodium gluconate works as an effective chelating agent that binds metal ions and thereby prevents deposits of aluminum hydroxide on surfaces, allows the precipitate to be easily removed during the filtration process.
