Phthalic anhydride is a colorless crystals, practically insoluble in water, moderately soluble in organic solvents. Shows the properties of aromatic compounds. With alcohols when heated in the presence of sulfuric acid, it forms complex mono - and diesters, with polyhydric alcohols - polyesters ( alkyd resins ). When chlorinated to the benzene ring, it forms tetrachlorophthalic acid anhydride - a monomer for producing self-extinguishing resins. Chlorination of the anhydride group, for example, by the action of phosphorus pentachloride PCl 5 , gives phthaloyl dichloride C 6 H 4 (COCl) 2

Titanium (IV) oxide ( titanium dioxide , titanium dioxide , titanium white , food coloring E171 ) TiO 2 - amphoteric tetravalent titanium oxide. It is the main product of the titanium industry (only about 5% of titanium ore is used for the production of pure titanium)

MEG is mainly used in the production of antifreeze and brake fluids for cars and as a coolant (in solution) in industrial and domestic heat supply installations, as well as in aviation for the manufacture of anti-icing fluid. Another wide application of MEG is the production of polymers, in particular, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) from which the bulk of plastic containers are made, as well as polyurethanes, cellophane, the production of synthetic fibers, films and in many other areas of modern chemistry.
