Surface anesthesia of the skin during needle insertion or surgical procedures 2. Anesthesia of the genital mucosa (e.g., prior to removal of condyloma) 3. Surface anesthesia of leg ulcers prior to irrigation or topical surgery (e.g., removal of fibrin, pus, or subcutaneous tissue) [Application Precautions] Do not apply this medicine around the eyes as it may cause corneal irritation. If this medicine comes into contact with the eyes, the eyes should be flushed with water or sodium chloride solution and should be protected until numbness returns. As with other local anesthetics, this drug may be toxic to the ear and should not be applied to the middle ear, and this drug should not be used for procedures or paracentesis that may penetrate the middle ear. It does not apply to open erosions. [Treatment in case of overdose] Clinically significant methemoglobinemia in children has been rarely reported High doses of prilocaine may increase methemoglobin. In 3-month-old infants, 125 mg of prilocaine, when applied topically for 5 hours, resulted in moderate methemoglobinemia. Lidocaine at 8.6 to 172 mg/kg caused severe poisoning in infants.
